J. Allen Harris II

Allen, a Birmingham, Alabama native, started in the industry at the age of 12 when he began framing houses during summers. Developing a deep passion for architecture, Allen went on to attain a bachelor’s degree in architecture from Auburn University. While at Auburn and after graduation, he gained valuable, broad experience at award-winning residential firms in the Southeast. Allen joined McALPINE in 2013 in Montgomery and expanded the firm’s practice to Nashville in 2015, where he serves as Head of Architecture for the Nashville office. Both a licensed architect and licensed homebuilder, he is currently renovating his circa 1900 era home on his century-old working cattle ranch, 45 minutes west of Nashville, where he employs low-input regenerative agricultural practices and rotational grazing to produce sustainable grass-finished beef (learn more @themaplevalleyranch). When away from the drawing board, Allen most enjoys his time out-of-doors working on the ranch, fly fishing, and wing-shooting around the US. Allen can be reached at our Nashville office.
